What is a disposable vape?
A disposable is an all-in-one device. It comes pre-filled with e-liquid, with the battery already built in, and there is nothing to fill, charge separately or adjust. Most are draw-activated, so you just inhale. When the e-liquid runs out, the device is done. Most disposables come in one fixed flavor and nicotine strength.
What is a refillable vape?
A refillable system splits the setup into parts: a battery or device, a pod or tank, and e-liquid that you buy separately. There are two common styles. Pod systems use a small pod that either snaps in pre-filled or that you fill yourself. Tank systems, often paired with a box mod, hold more e-liquid and use replaceable coils. Either way, you keep the device and replace the consumable parts.

Cost over time
A disposable is cheap to try, but you are buying the whole device every time. For someone who vapes daily, that tends to add up. A refillable device costs more on day one, then you are mostly buying e-liquid and the occasional coil, which usually comes out cheaper per week for regular use.

With a disposable, you get the flavor and strength printed on the package. With a refillable system you pick the e-liquid, so you can choose from a much wider range of flavors and nicotine strengths, including zero nicotine, and change your mind whenever you want.
Upkeep and reliability
Disposables win on effort: nothing to maintain. Refillables need some attention. You charge the battery, refill the tank or pod, replace coils when the flavor gets harsh, and now and then deal with a small leak. Waste and battery disposal
Every disposable contains a lithium battery. Do not put spent devices in household trash or curbside recycling, since damaged lithium batteries can cause fires in trucks and facilities. Take them to a battery recycling or household hazardous waste drop-off. Refillable devices produce far less waste over time.
So which should you choose?
Choose a disposable if you vape only now and then, want zero maintenance, or want something to carry in a pocket for a weekend. Choose a refillable system if you vape most days, want more flavor and strength options, or want to lower your cost and waste over time.
